“Recovered” album added to iOS 18 Photos app
Apple says that this feature can detect and find previously lost or damaged photos and videos and save them in the new “Photos app”.rescued” He says that he can show it in the album. The new Rescued album will be together with the existing “Last Deleted” album.
Apple states that when you update to iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, your device will automatically scan recoverable photos and videos.
There are a few situations where a photo or video may be lost and/or damaged. For example; This can happen due to a database corruption issue or when you take a photo and it is not saved properly to your photo library. Third-party applications that have permission to manage your Photos library may also cause content to be lost and/or damaged.
The new “Recovered” album will only be shown if there are lost or damaged photos on your device. You can access the new “Recovered” album in the Photos app by following these steps:
- Open the Photos app.
- Scroll down and find Utilities.
- Tap Recovered! and pass Face ID/Touch ID authentication.
- Choose between Permanently delete or Recover.
The Recovered album will only appear if there are lost or damaged photos and videos on your device. Otherwise it will not appear as an option. This feature came after the database corruption bug in iOS 17.5 resurfaced deleted photos.
