The era of common charging cables for mobile devices and radio equipment begins in Turkey. BTKWith the new regulation of , it was decided that USB Type-C would be mandatory on all devices. This decision, adopted by the European Union a while ago, will now be valid for technological devices sold in Turkey.
There will be a USB Type-C common charging cable
Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTKThe new decree put into effect by ) covers all radio equipment in Turkey. This means that it can be used on many devices such as smartphones, tablets, headphones and mice. USB Type-C will be used means.
Today, almost all technology companies except Apple have adopted USB Type-C. Especially Android This port, which has become a standard among manufacturers, provides compatibility between devices and makes it possible to use a single cable on many devices.
According to BTK’s statement, thanks to the common charging solution, both e-waste in our country will be reduced and consumers’ expenses will decrease. According to research, with the sale of approximately 15 million phones in Turkey, the potential amount of e-waste will decrease to 7.5 million units.
It was reported that the new decisions will be valid as of December 28, 2024.
BTK’s regulation for radio equipment is as follows:
The requirements in 1.2 and 1.3 apply to the following categories of devices.
- a) Mobile phones,
- b) Tablets,
- c) Digital cameras,
- c) Headphones,
- d) Headphones with microphone,
- e) Portable video game consoles,
- f) Portable speakers,
- g) E-book readers,
- g) Keyboards,
- h) Mouse devices,
- i) Portable navigation systems,
- i) In-ear headphones,
- j) Notebook computers (Laptops)
1.2. If devices belonging to the categories listed in 1.1 can be charged via wired charging:
- a) TS EN IEC 62680-1-3:2022 “Universal serial bus interfaces for data and power – Part 1-
- 3: Common components – USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification” or its successor
- It must have a USB Type-C port that complies with the standard and is always accessible and functional
- should remain.
- b) TS EN IEC 62680-1-3:2022 “Universal serial bus interfaces for data and power – Part 1-
- 3: Common components – USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification” or its successor
- It must be rechargeable with cables compatible with the standard.
1.3. Devices belonging to the categories listed in 1.1 operate at voltages higher than 5 Volts or 3
Charging via wired charging at currents higher than ampere or powers higher than 15 Watts
If they can:
- a) TS EN IEC 62680-1-2:2022 “Universal serial bus interfaces for data and power – Part 1-
- 2: Common parts – USB Power Delivery specifications” standard or current replacement standard
- It must operate in accordance with the specified USB Power Delivery (USB PD).
- b) Any additional charging protocol specified in (a), regardless of the charger used
- It should not disrupt the functionality of the USB Power Delivery.
