Will VPNs Be Banned? Official Statement Arrived!

While the access ban on Instagram still continues, many different claims are being made. When we leave aside the claims that TikTok will be shut down and that VPNs will add additional fees to the bill, one of the most frightening ones is the claim that VPNs will be completely blocked.

Although many people think of “accessing prohibited sites” when it comes to VPN, there are millions of people who use VPN for security, both individually and corporately. There is no official decision to ban VPNs in our country, but many VPN services do not work on both mobile and fixed internet lines.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure: VPNs Will Not Be Banned!

While the list of blocked VPN services in our country is quite long, the claim that “Turkey Will Completely Block VPNs”, which was put forward recently, hit the agenda like a bombshell. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, whose statements were eagerly awaited due to the Instagram access ban, clarified this issue.

Minister Uraloğlu, who clearly stated that VPNs will not be banned, made the following statement on the subject;

“VPNs will not be banned. I know that IT experts provide a lot of information to the public about their use. VPNs are also used for many other purposes. We are not trying to ban anything here..”
