Recently, a new regulation for online overseas shopping has been implemented in our country, for which successive decisions have been made. While the Ministry of Commerce made changes to the duty-free shopping limit from abroad with a new Presidential decision, it also implemented a new spotting tax and many newer decisions.
With the new decisions announced in the Official Gazette issue dated December 22, 2024, it has become even more difficult for consumers to shop at affordable prices abroad. Here are the new regulations…
Duty Free Shopping Limit Updated to 27 Euros, Mandatory Shipping Fee Updated to 3 Euros
Within the scope of the new customs and e-commerce regulation implemented with the President’s decision, the duty-free shopping limit from abroad was reduced from 30 euros to 27 euros. The limit in question was reduced from 150 euros to 30 dollars in August this year.
In addition, a new update was made on shipping fees. Now, consumers will pay a shipping fee of 3 euros even if they purchase the products with a free shipping campaign. In addition to shipping fees, a new regulation has been introduced for sales made via e-commerce. From now on, brands will be subject to a 1 percent withholding tax for sales made online.
With the new regulations, which have been reacted by many people, it has become impossible for consumers in our country to buy affordable products from abroad through online shopping. On the reverse side of the coin, we witnessed that large foreign brands selling in our country withdrew from Turkey after such regulations. We hope a similar situation does not occur after the new decisions.
Additional Customs Tax on Vehicles Brought from Abroad
With the new application to be carried out by the Ministry of Commerce, Türkiye is preparing to increase the additional customs duty it imposes on imported automobiles.
So what do you think about this issue? Let’s meet in the comments…
