The Expected News Came: USA Will Ban Chip Sales to China!

A major technology war affecting many different sectors between the USA, seen as the world’s superpower, and its rival China has been going on for many years. One of the USA’s biggest weapons in this war is the sales embargoes that started with President Trump in 2028. However, at this time when he will take over the US Presidency again, another sanction decision may come against the Far Eastern giant.

According to reports, the Biden Government, days before leaving office, took action to deal a blow to China through the chip industry, in which it has made significant progress. It is claimed that the government may soon implement a new sanction that will ban the sale of chip products produced with the 14nm and 16nm processes to China.

Chip Manufacturers Will Not be able to Sell Their Products to Chinese Companies

The new sanctions, which are mentioned in many claims, will prevent the sale of processors produced with 14nm or 16nm process technologies and containing 30 billion transistors or more to China. The new US restriction could greatly affect the commercial relationship of major chip manufacturers such as TSMC, GlobalFoundries, Intel and Samsung Foundry with Chinese companies.

In addition, processor manufacturers will receive an export license from the US Department of Commerce for the sale of chips developed in the structure we mentioned. Thus, companies will not be able to sell these products to any other company other than “authorized customers” determined by the USA. It is stated that some China-based companies may be among the customers in question.

On the other hand, today, chips more advanced than 14nm are used in the main processors of devices such as smartphones, tablets and computers. For this reason, let us state that the sanction in question will not greatly affect consumer electronic products such as phones and computers. It is said that the new sanction will be implemented to prevent the re-production of old hardware units with chips supplied to Russia and Iran via China.
