Important collaboration between TUA and Axiom Space!

Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and Axiom Space have established an important collaboration to investigate and evaluate potential supply chain opportunities for the Turkish space industry ecosystem that will be involved in the installation of the Axiom Space Station and other activities of Axiom Space. In this context, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering joint studies in areas such as space technologies, aviation, textiles, material science, advanced manufacturing, communication and life sciences.

This collaboration aims to inspire the astronauts, engineers, scientists and leaders of the future by ensuring the participation of Turkey’s young population in space studies. In addition, contributing to the sustainability of the space sector and creating innovative opportunities in other sectors are among the main goals.

The International Space Station (ISS) is planned to continue serving until the end of 2030. Following this process, commercial space stations are expected to come into operation to continue human activities and research in space. In this context, Axiom Station, developed by Axiom Space, stands out among the new generation space stations. Additionally, Axiom Space is recognized as the only company authorized to connect its modules to the ISS.

The common goals of TUA and Axiom Space are as follows;

• To establish a laboratory that can be used for research and discovery purposes.
• Creating production facilities that take advantage of the microgravity environment.
• Providing a platform to test space materials and validate technologies for deep space missions.
• To build a hub for transportation, logistics and other services in low Earth orbit (LEO).
• Developing new platforms for communication and observation.
• Creating a training ground for professional astronauts.

In line with these goals, it is aimed to jointly produce certain modules in Turkey. It is aimed that this study will provide significant gains for the Turkish space industry and contribute to the strengthening of the sector internationally.
