The ‘6 months and 6 thousand kilometers’ rule, also known as the ‘6 + 6 law’, which was first implemented by the Ministry of Commerce in September 2022 and plans to prevent new vehicles from being relegated to second hands and sold at higher prices, has been extended once again. The regulation will continue to be valid until January 1, 2025.
The 6 months and 6 thousand km law plans to prevent opportunism
The law, which first came into force in September 2022 and plans to prevent individuals or institutions from buying and selling automobiles for commercial purposes, has been extended once again. The law, which plans to prevent the sale of vehicles at prices much higher than the official sales price by taking advantage of stock problems and taking advantage of the increase in exchange rate prices, will be kept in force for another 6 months by the Ministry of Commerce.
In its statement, the Ministry of Commerce announced that since the regulation came into force, approximately 52 million TL fines have been imposed on authorized automobile dealers and auto galleries, and a total of 90 million TL fines have been imposed on those who violate the advertising restrictions.
The Ministry announced that the relevant regulation will continue for another 6 months in order to avoid violation of competition rules and consumer grievances in the new period, and warned the public that illegal sales will be detected and prevented by the Notary Public.
