Ericsson Research Turkey makes a significant contribution to the ROBUST-6G project, which focuses on future communication technologies. This project aims to use Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) techniques to improve the security of 6G networks. ROBUST-6G aims to address new challenges that will arise in future cyber-physical processes and ensure that 6G services and networks are resilient to these challenges.
Ericsson Türkiye draws the security road map of 6G!
Ericsson Research Turkey’s role in this project, as the global project coordinator, is a first in the field of information and communication technologies in Turkey. This shows that Turkey plays an important role in researching next generation communication technologies.
The success of 6G networks depends on them being programmable, adaptable and efficient. However, these features also complicate the management and operation of networks. In order to manage this complexity and protect against cybersecurity risks, ROBUST-6G aims to develop a fully automatic, end-to-end smart grid and service security management framework using Zero Touch Network and Service Management (ZSM) and AI/ML techniques.
The project also aims to increase resilience in areas such as distributed intelligence, privacy improvements and transparency in AI/ML, and to promote energy-efficient sustainable AI methods in 6G network design. These efforts aim to both improve computing requirements while increasing performance and minimizing the energy consumed.
Ericsson Turkey General Manager Işıl Yalçın emphasizes that 6G, as the newest generation of wireless communication technology, has the potential to offer wireless intelligence everywhere and that artificial intelligence will play a critical role in both supporting future technological developments and ensuring the reliability of these technologies.
ROBUST-6G is among the projects supported by the European Smart Grids and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) and highlights microelectronics, sustainability and standardization efforts.
This initiative aims to align technological developments with social needs and benefits, while promoting innovative approaches in the field of 6G research. Besides ROBUST-6G, projects funded by SNS JU include large-scale trials and pilots aimed at transferring 6G technologies to real-world applications in various sectors.
