New details have emerged about Asus’ handheld console ROG Ally X, which we expect to be introduced soon. According to information leaked by VideoCardz, the battery capacity and number of ports of the device include significant changes. Here are all the details and innovations of Asus ROG Ally X.

Asus ROG Ally X comes with a battery capacity that is twice as large as its previous model. The new model has a battery increased from 40 watt-hours to 80 watt-hours. This stands out as the largest battery capacity ever seen among handheld consoles.

Despite the new battery capacity, the Asus ROG Ally X is only 70 grams heavier and 5mm thicker. The overall thickness measures 36.9mm, a slight increase compared to the 32mm thickness of the previous model. This increase does not negatively affect the portability of the device.

One of the reasons why ROG Ally X can remain so thin is that it uses a thinner fan design. The new fan has blades that are 23% smaller and 50% thinner than the previous model. However, it provides 10% more airflow.

Asus ROG Ally will include two USB-C ports

One of the most striking innovations of the device is the addition of a second USB-C port. This new port, which supports USB4 speeds, replaces the dedicated eGPU port found in the previous model. It is not yet clear whether charging is possible from both ports.

Asus ROG Ally X does not promise a huge increase in performance. The device comes with Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip and 7 inch 120Hz VRR display. However, along with 24GB of LPDDR5 memory, the extra 8GB of memory allocated to the GPU may provide a slight improvement in games.

It has also been confirmed that ROG Ally X will feature a new D-pad design. There is no detailed information yet about other important changes made in ergonomics. There is no confirmation on the price, but previous leaks suggested it would be $799.
