According to the news in Hürriyet, if the bill is accepted, people who recycle their vehicles that are 25 years old and over will be exempt from Special Consumption Tax for the new vehicles they buy, provided that they are produced in Turkey. This will be a one time only.

The statement said, “According to TUIK data, the number of vehicles registered to traffic in Turkey by the end of 2023 was announced as 28 million 740 thousand 492, and this number exceeded 30 million in August 2024.”

“Again, according to TÜİK, the average age of vehicles registered to traffic in Turkey is calculated as 14.5. 25 percent of the number of vehicles consists of vehicles over 21 years old.

While older vehicles create a burden in terms of repair and maintenance costs, they can also pose a danger in traffic, causing loss of property and life. They also harm both the environment and the economy. In this sense, recycling of vehicles older than 25 years is important in terms of economy, environmental pollution and transportation safety.

In order to encourage the recycling of vehicles that are 25 years old and older, those who recycle their vehicles will receive a one-time purchase of new vehicles, provided that they are produced in Turkey. Considering the usage rate of commercial vehicles in relevant economic activities, it can be understood that they wear out in a shorter term than personal vehicles, and that the maintenance and repair costs of these vehicles are more burdensome.

In order for transportation and transport activities to be both more comfortable and safer, it is important that the vehicles are more convenient for use. While the maintenance and repair costs of worn-out vehicles create a burden for drivers, it is known that they also have difficulties in obtaining a new vehicle.

In this context, drivers who make their living with a single vehicle will purchase new vehicles to use in commercial activities for at least 10 years.
