What Will 3D Audio and Video Technology Provide in Phone Calls?
Nokia Technologies president Jenni Lukander described this development as a major step forward in the voice calling experience since the introduction of monophonic phone audio used on smartphones and computers.
Current phone calls are monophonic, transmitting sound waves on a single channel. This causes calls to sound flat and lacking in detail. However, new technology provides 3D audio where the caller will hear everything as if they were with the other person.
