A gamepad made of cubes: Here comes Proteus Xbox

Xbox, Proteus Controller It expands its accessibility with the modular gamepad called. Developed by a new peripheral company called Byowave as part of the Designed for Xbox program, this controller consists of palm-sized cubes and can be put together in various configurations. It features interchangeable front panels such as standard control buttons, analog sticks, and directional pads. These features allow players to use the Proteus Controller one-handed, flat on a table, as a traditional gamepad, or with a joystick, depending on their personal needs.

It is not yet clear whether the device will come to our country or at what price it will be sold. The device comes with two power cubes, two analog cubes with Hall effect sensors, a half cube and two spacers. There are also interchangeable peripherals: a directional pad, left trigger, right trigger, two single button options, XYAB diamond array, mini analog stick, and Xbox headset. The package also includes left and right handles to create a traditional gamepad, socket and plug covers featuring Byowave’s cute blue creature, a USB-C charging cable and Bluetooth dongle.

Byowave, Proteus ControllerIt is selling gradually. Initially, 150 units will be offered at the VIP price of $255. Afterwards, 500 more units will be available for $268 (Early Order) and 1,000 more will be available for $284 (Pre-Order). The standard price of Proteus Controller will be $300.

Proteus Controller, It will be supported for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 and 11 and will run smoothly on these platforms. It won’t be compatible with PlayStation 5 or Switch, at least not initially. “Being officially licensed with console companies is very important to us because we want to ensure the user experience is seamless and the longevity of the controller. We would love to partner with these platforms in the future too!” says the Proteus executive.

Proteus Controller, is part of the Designed by Xbox program as it was developed in conjunction with Microsoft’s gaming teams. This means the device should work seamlessly with Microsoft’s hardware. Companies like Razer, Turtle Beach, PowerA, and Logitech also sell products with the Designed by Xbox logo, but the Byowave partnership puts a new emphasis on accessibility products in this area. Microsoft today announced that it is making it faster and easier to participate in Designed by Xbox for hardware manufacturers focused on serving the disability community.

Proteus Controller‘s announcement is part of Xbox’s recognition of Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Xbox has been a pioneer in accessible gaming hardware with the Adaptive Controller released in late 2018. Adaptive Controller is a deeply customizable gamepad for gamers with disabilities, designed in partnership with AbleGamers, Warfighter Engaged, SpecialEffect, Craig Hospital and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Selling for just $100, it allows users to create their ideal gaming setup by plugging in their own third-party peripherals.
