Activision is finally taking some steps to prevent Call of Duty games from taking up hard drive space. As it is known, the files of the games in the series are huge, but the company will lighten the load a little before Black Ops 6, which will be released on October 25.
So how will this change be made? One of the big changes is that Warzone will be differentiated from other games in terms of default downloads for annual games. This change, which will be made with the launch of Season 5 Reloaded on August 21, is expected to make a great contribution to the players. It can be said that Warzone’s 130 GB size is quite frustrating for those who do not even participate in the battle royale mode.
In the near future, when players purchase a yearly Call of Duty game, they will only be able to download certain files for that game. It can easily be said that this will provide relief to hard disks. Users will be able to select and download Warzone’s files if they wish.
The actions taken by Activision are not limited to this. The company is also expanding its use of texture streaming, starting with the upcoming Warzone update. This means users won’t need to download everything directly to their hard drives. Because developers will push content less frequently used by players to a stream cache.
However, developers warn that this may cause some of this content to appear at lower quality until the stream cache is fully loaded. For this purpose, there are multiple settings for the feature in question. Finally, the upcoming PS5 downloads will be split into multiple parts, most of which can be purchased ahead of time. These downloads will also include file optimizations to further reduce the size.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on October 26
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will meet players on consoles and PCs on October 26. The game will also be available on Game Pass from launch day.
