Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that BYD’s huge investment of 1 billion dollars in Turkey has paved the way for new investments and that they will announce a larger-scale investment of another manufacturer in the coming periods.
Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır: Türkiye Will Become a New Generation Vehicle Production Center
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır evaluated the latest situation in Turkey’s automotive industry in his statement to Dünya Newspaper. Kacır stated that BYD’s $1 billion investment triggered new ones and that they will soon announce the investment of another manufacturer.
Kacır stated that BYD’s investment will make an additional contribution of 2.5 billion dollars to Turkey’s exports. He emphasized that this contribution may increase further with the investments of other manufacturers in the future. Kacır also expressed his hope that Turkey will gradually become the new generation vehicle production center of Europe and this geography.
While it has not been announced which brand will invest in Turkey at the moment, the following statements were used on the subject;
Turkey currently has the production infrastructure of 8 different global brands. We will hear about new generation automobile investments from these brands in the coming period. Very soon, we will share a very large-scale new generation vehicle investment from an existing manufacturer.
