Huawei announced at the HDC 2024 event that the Mate 70 series smartphones would be introduced in the fourth quarter of the year. However, famous tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the company has pushed forward the release schedule and postponed it to the second half of the quarter. This means that the Mate 70 series can be introduced in December.
The delay in question is said to be due to the slow adoption of the new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system and the slow integration of the latest Kirin 5G processor.
The announcement of HarmonyOS NEXT, the follower of HarmonyOS, was made at HDC 2024. The Mate 70 series will be the beginning of the widespread introduction of HarmonyOS NEXT to users. However, it appears that making a smooth transition from the current version of HarmonyOS to NEXT is taking longer than expected.
On the other hand, the new Kirin chip reportedly uses a new platform and has advanced technology that may require additional development time for seamless integration with the phone’s hardware.
The phones will feature a 1.5K LTPO display, an Omnivision OV50K main camera with ultra-wide variable aperture, and an ultra-large silicon battery that will likely use silicon negative electrode technology for better efficiency. For security reasons, Huawei seems to also emphasize 3D face scanning.
3D spatial zoom in cameras and satellite communication support for emergencies are also among the features expected to be available on phones.
Delay in Huawei Mate 70 series may bring brighter user experience
While the official launch date is yet to be confirmed, this delay could buy Huawei valuable time to improve the integration of both the new Kirin chipset and HarmonyOS NEXT. This could ultimately result in a brighter user experience when smartphones are released. Still, this means we’ll have to wait a little longer for the Mate 70 series.
