AMD’s older processors will not receive a patch for the Sinkclose vulnerability

Old Ryzens will not receive updates

The Sinkclose vulnerability affects hundreds of millions of AMD processors. It is underlined that thanks to this vulnerability, it is possible for attackers to infiltrate the system almost undetected. AMD and experts say that access to the system kernel is required to exploit this vulnerability and that until now no one exploited the vulnerability says. AMD has already started releasing fixes for its processors.

However, according to the statement made by the company, AMD will not support old products that are outside the software support period. Therefore Ryzen 1000, 2000 and 3000 series with processors Threadripper 1000 and 2000 family will not receive updates. However, new AMD products such as the Ryzen 9000 series and Ryzen AI 300 series are not affected by this vulnerability.

It is stated that newer models and all of AMD’s embedded processors have already received or will receive the patch. AMD does not expect the relevant updates to have an impact on system performance. Generally, such vulnerabilities pose a risk to government agencies or other large organizations rather than individual users. However, it is still very important to make the relevant updates for security.
