Apple deleted many other applications besides TikTok!

With TikTok banned in the USA, Apple made a rare move and shared the full list of affected applications. While the company usually does not make a public statement when it makes such a block, this time it published an official support document and announced the applications that were blocked from access in the USA.

In addition to TikTok, it was revealed that many popular applications belonging to ByteDance were also removed from the App Store. It was noteworthy that platforms such as CapCut and Lemon8, which have rapidly increased the number of users recently, were also included in the list.

In its statement regarding the removal of the applications, Apple stated that they complied with US laws and that ByteDance Ltd. was subject to the “Applications Controlled by America’s Enemies Act”. He stated that all applications developed by the company and its affiliates have been removed from the App Store.

Will existing users be affected as well?

While users in the US will no longer be able to download these applications from the App Store, support for updates and in-app purchases will also be discontinued for already installed applications. Apple also emphasized that users visiting the USA and registered in a different App Store region will also be restricted from accessing these applications.

This ban was implemented within the scope of the law passed last year, which requires ByteDance to sell TikTok or be banned. Last week, the US Supreme Court ruled that the law should remain in effect, paving the way for the removal of TikTok and other ByteDance applications. As a result, Apple and Google have completely blocked these applications as of January 19, 2025.
