Apple is looking for a solution to tinnitus

Apple and tinnitus

With nearly 2 billion users, Apple has become an important library in the analysis of health data. Of course, these studies also make Apple products stand out more. The company recently published a study on tinnitus.

The study, in which more than 160 thousand users participated, is considered one of the largest studies in the medical world. Apple aims to fully understand the cause of this discomfort and find a basic solution.

77.6 percent of the survey participants stated that they experienced tinnitus or a similar condition. This disorder occurs mostly in the late fifties. This rate is 3 times higher than at the age of 18.

Men experience this disease 2.7 percent more often than women. Research has shown that exposure to high sound levels and experiencing sound trauma cause tinnitus. 20 percent of the participants with ringing in their ears stated that they experienced these problems.

In this research, Apple states that tinnitus can be reduced, at least partially, with many applications or modes included in its products. For example, Apple Watch can warn its user in environments with unhealthy levels of noise. Users can see the sound level with the Health application.

Again, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max headphones can block noise before the user is exposed to unhealthy sound levels, or the sound can be completely blocked with the Reduce Loud Sound mode. Apple also shared this research with the World Health Organization.
