Apple Intelligence, which combines Apple’s artificial intelligence features and introduced it last June, has been on the agenda of technology followers for a while. It was even shared yesterday that Apple Intelligence would not be available until the iOS 18.1 update. Now, there is new information from Apple Intelligence.
New AI research published by Apple reveals that the company is using Google hardware to create the early foundations of Apple Intelligence. “Apple Intelligence Foundation Language Models” research paper is highly technical and details the currently known sources of the language model at the heart of the company’s new technology. However, a quote from the document indicates that Apple may have used Google hardware in early development.
A report on CNBC suggests that Apple is renting time on existing clusters hosted by Google, but the research doesn’t directly support this or say anything about Google or Nvidia. It seems more likely that Apple will purchase the hardware directly from the company and use it in its own data centers.
The fact that the initial training of the model was carried out on hardware designed by Google does not mean much in the long run. Apple is said to have its own Apple Silicon-derived hardware in its data centers to handle Apple Intelligence queries. Said to be called “Project ACDC,” Apple is reportedly planning to optimize AI applications in its data centers.
Apple to start developing artificial intelligence servers in the next two years It plans to allocate over 5 billion dollars. The company also aims to purchase tens of thousands of AI server units driven by Project ACDC.
