Are Apple Vision Pro productions being stopped?

Apple’s $3,500 AR/VR glasses Vision Pro did not receive the expected attention. Due to low demand, the company has had to significantly reduce production of the device and is re-evaluating its future plans. Accordingly, all support may be stopped in the coming months.

Apple Vision Pro production may be stopped

Apple has significantly reduced production of the Vision Pro, which it launched earlier this year, due to lower-than-expected sales. Sales of the $3,500 device failed to meet Apple’s forecasts. Accordingly, it turned out that production could be stopped.

According to the latest reports, Apple; Vision Pro began reducing production in May. In the last warning sent to Luxshare, the main assembler of the product, it said that it may have to stop production by November. It was stated that the company plans to produce between 500 and 600 thousand glasses to meet the demand in the first stage.

However, sales of high-priced glasses did not meet expectations and it was stated that thousands of unused products accumulated in warehouses. Some factories even stopped production of Vision Pro parts in May due to Apple’s low sales expectations.

Luxshare currently produces up to a thousand pairs of glasses per day. This number represents a halving of the 2,000 in the peak production period. The report also shows that Apple may completely abandon support for the Vision Pro model at the end of 2024.

In this context, Apple postponed work on the new generation Vision Pro for about a year. The company prioritizes more affordable glasses instead. It asks its suppliers to plan for 4 million units throughout the life cycle of the product.
