San Jose-based Ayar Labs, which provides solutions in the semiconductor industry, is in the Series D investment round. $155 million received investment. Advent Global Opportunities ve Light Street Capital investment tour led by Nvidia, AMD, Intel ve GlobalFoundries Industry giants such as also participated.
After the investment, the total investment amount that Ayar Labs has received to date has reached 370 million dollars, and the company’s valuation has exceeded 1 billion dollars.
Ayar Labs aims to solve data communication problems, especially in artificial intelligence infrastructures. While most data centers today rely on traditional electrical connections, these systems are struggling to meet increasing bandwidth needs. Ayar Labs’ light-based optical interconnects promise to solve this problem by transmitting data faster and with lower power consumption.
The optical module called TeraPHY developed by the company aims to reduce costs while increasing processor efficiency in artificial intelligence infrastructures. This technology can work integrated with system-on-chip (SoC) packages to accelerate inter-chip communication.
Ayar Labs CEO Mark Wadestated that they will scale TeraPHY technology with the investment received. Jordan Katz from Advent Global Opportunities said that optical connections have the potential to transform the artificial intelligence infrastructure and that they think Ayar Labs will be the pioneer of this revolution.
With the investment received, it seems likely that Ayar Labs will not only develop its own technology but also cooperate more closely with industry leaders such as Nvidia, AMD and Intel.
