Netflix’s highly anticipated BioShock film adaptation is evolving in a new direction. Speaking at the ‘Producers on Producers’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Roy Lee, one of the producers, explained that the project had to be shot with a much lower budget and production than originally planned. Here are the details…
Netflix closes its purse strings for Bioshock
According to Roy Lee’s statement to Variety, Netflix’s new management reconsidered the budget allocated to the film and reduced the budgets significantly. This change also affected the vision and handling of the film. Lee summarized the direction of the film by stating that the film will offer a more personal perspective rather than a big and flashy project.
The BioShock movie was first announced in 2022. Although there have been some changes since then, Francis Lawrence is still in the director’s chair of the project. The person who was initially assigned to write the script was Michael Green, who was also the screenwriter of productions such as Logan and Blade Runner 2049.
The film will be an adaptation of the legendary video game series, which was released in 2007 and takes players to Rapture, an underwater utopia collapsed by greed and corrupt morality.
A release date has not yet been determined for Netflix’s Bioshock movie. This production stands out as one of the video game adaptations that will meet the audience in the future, along with productions such as Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Minecraft.
