The European Union gave another bad news for Elon Musk, who had a difficult time with Tesla and X (Twitter): Accordingly, the commission ruled that the blue tick application used by the world-famous social media platform was misleading and not a reliable application. Here are the details…
EU: “Blue tick should not be obtained by making payment!”
European Union Warning Towards Platform X: Violations of the Digital Services Act The European Union (EU) has officially announced that the blue tick verification system of social media platform .
As a result of the long-term research conducted by the EU, it was concluded that the ‘blue tick’ system is misleading for social media users, and that it creates the wrong perception that everyone who receives a blue tick is ‘trustworthy, known by the society by name, and is actually that person’.
This marks the first case in which a company has been formally accused of violating the DSA. Facebook and Instagram also faced such accusations in the past, but the European Union did not express a negative opinion about these platforms.
In her statement on the issue, EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager stated that Company X did not comply with DSA’s transparency rules and implemented a misleading economic model for users.
So, what will happen at this stage? If Elon Musk and if X ignores the European Union’s warnings on this issue and chooses not to make changes, it may have to pay a penalty of 6 percent of its annual global income.
Let’s see what the X (Twitter) front and Elon Musk will react to the issue. You can share your opinions with us through the comments and our social media accounts.
