The automotive world is changing rapidly, and artificial intelligence technologies are at the center of this change. Accordingly, Mercedes-Benz will offer an artificial intelligence-supported update for the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system.
There will be ChatGPT and Bing integration in Mercedes-Benz vehicles
Mercedes-Benz is radically changing its in-car infotainment system MBUX using artificial intelligence. More than three million Mercedes-Benz vehicles with MBUX system will have ChatGPT and Bing supported voice assistant feature.
The German automaker has launched the AI-supported MBUX update after a beta test in which approximately 900 thousand US drivers participated. Markus Schäfer, Technology Director for Development and Supply at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, stated that the company will offer a personalized driving experience.
The new artificial intelligence assistant in Mercedes vehicles will provide information access by providing more interactive communication between the driver and the vehicle. The system will use Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to integrate ChatGPT’s conversational capabilities with Bing’s search capabilities.
Drivers will be able to access the voice assistant in German and English by saying “Hey Mercedes” or pressing the relevant button on the steering wheel. The system will do more than just respond. Accordingly, he will be able to provide up-to-date information and understand the context of the conversation.
To further enhance the user experience, the system will store conversation history for one hour, allowing drivers to pick up where they left off. This will offer flexibility in maps and other in-car applications.
