While the name “CrowdStrike” was mentioned due to a faulty software update that affected millions of computers, the company chose to thank the participants by distributing ‘hacker’ figures at this event.

CrowdStrike attended the Black Hat conference and came face to face with its customers and cyber security experts after the IT crash that took place on July 19 and affected 8.5 million computers. Despite the great collapse, the company took part in this event, introduced its products and tried to attract attention with various promotions to make people forget what happened.
While CrowdStrike’s booth was overflowing from the first day of the conference, participants not only asked questions about the company but also formed long queues to buy the T-shirts and action figures distributed. CrowdStrike’s approach to participants with figures representing known cybercrime groups such as Scattered Spider and Aquatic Panda was seen as both a fun and surprising strategy. The company said, “Adversaries aren’t stopping. Neither are we.” (The enemies are not stopping, neither are we.) and emphasized his determination in the post-crisis period.
CrowdStrike’s presence at this event coincided with the publication of the root cause analysis report regarding the collapse. The company accepted responsibility for the faulty update and stated that it took precautions to prevent a similar incident from happening again. These statements were received positively by part of the cybersecurity community, and some professionals expressed that they were ready to give CrowdStrike a second chance.
