Cultural assets project of Istanbul Governorship and Ziraat Katılım: Digital Istanbul

Prepared with the contributions of Istanbul Governorship and Ziraat Katılım Bank, together with stakeholders including the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Foundations, Presidency of National Palaces and Provincial Mufti’s Office. Details of the Digital Istanbul Project

It was stated that within the scope of the Digital Istanbul Project, panels with QR code technology were hung in the 200 most visited works in Istanbul, especially mosques, in the first phase. Thus, information about registered cultural assets can be accessed quickly with the developed QR code application.

Boards containing QR codes were placed so that they could be read from 60 meters. Working compatible with all smart devices, Digital Istanbul provides services in 5 different languages: Turkish, English, German, Russian and Arabic. The product informs visitors in written and audio form. Among the mosques included in the project, Hagia Sophia Mosque, Sultanahmet Mosque, Mirimah Sultan Mosque, Büyük Mecidiye Mosque and Selimiye Mosque stand out. Digital Istanbul’s website also includes search and map features. Thus, those who want to visit a certain work can get more detailed information about the work.

It is aimed to expand Digital Istanbul to include all historical monuments in Istanbul. According to the information shared; There are a total of 600 mosques and 40 thousand works in Istanbul. It is expected that these works will be included in the project in the future. In fact, the project is planned to include temples of other faith groups.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated in his speech that 17 million foreign guests came to Istanbul and emphasized that thanks to Digital Istanbul, the spread of hearsay information about the works will be prevented and access to accurate information will be easier.
