Although the eye tracking feature was brought to the agenda within the scope of the accessibility features offered by Apple with iOS 18, there was no development that affected the users. While Apple is still in the progress phase on this issue, Honor made a move on this issue and the launch date was announced.
In February, we saw an engineer use Honor’s AI-based eye-tracking feature on the Magic 6 Pro to start and stop a car’s engine and move it back and forth. This technology was specific to China, but it was stated that it would be made available worldwide.
What Does Honor Eye Tracking Feature Offer?
The expected statement from Honor came and it was announced that it will be available worldwide on August 27. This technology, which can be used through MagicOS 8.0 on all devices, including Magic 6 Pro, allows users to interact with their phones by using their eyes to open notifications and applications.
Working on more possibilities, Honor has developed non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) technology to make assistive technology accessible to everyone. Honor’s BCI technology allows people to communicate with external devices using brain electrical signals.
The short film above shows a person who was diagnosed with ALS 14 years ago and now uses eye-tracking technology to communicate and create works of art.
