Diablo 4’s new patch will significantly reduce the amount of gold required for Masterworking in the final stage of the game.
Blizzard, Diablo The latest patch for 4 aims to reduce the amount of gold required for Masterworking transactions in the final stage of the game. The 1.4.1 update will be officially released on May 28, but Blizzard has already shared the patch notes. The biggest change in the update will be the reduction in the gold cost of the Masterworking system, which was introduced as part of Season 4 Loot Reborn. Masterworking improves the affix values of an item, making them much stronger. Other required materials can be obtained from the new final stage dungeon, The Pit.
For lower Masterworking levels the cost will remain the same, but from level 5 onwards the cost will be reduced. At maximum level 12, players will spend 7.5 million less gold per item. “We want the main goal of Masterworking to focus on gathering materials and reducing the need for gold,” Blizzard states in the patch notes. We want to ensure that the materials are available and that extra time is not spent collecting gold.
Other Masterworking changes coming with the patch include Masterworking being unlocked for all characters when unlocked by one character, and the ability to directly transmute Masterworking materials. Blizzard’s previous emergency fix, Masterworking, had reduced material transmute costs by millions. With the upcoming changes, we don’t think players will feel compelled to save up their gold to Mastercraft their items.
While masterworking changes are the main focus of the patch, there are some other minor changes as well. Hellborne enemies in Helltides will deal additional fire damage with the update, Scattered Prisms drop rates will increase, and a tooltip on the character stats page will indicate how much armor a player needs to reach the armor limit.
Diablo 4’s Loot Reborn update has been well received by fans. On platforms like Reddit and Steam, players are stating how much more fun the updated game is and that this is how Blizzard’s ARPG should be released. Players can now even craft rare items like Uber Uniques. These items were so rare at launch that Blizzard had to confirm their existence. Diablo 4’s first expansion pack, Vessel of Hatred, will be released in late 2024.
