Disney+ returns to local content production in Turkey with Umami

Disney+ is preparing to present the movie ‘Umami’, starring Burak Deniz and Öykü Karayel, to the audience by adding a new one to its original local content in Turkey. This production stands out as an adaptation of the acclaimed British film ‘Boiling Point’, which was released in 2021. Produced by Karga Seven Pictures, the script of the film was adapted by Can Cengiz and Emre Şahin is in the director’s chair.

‘Umami’ is about the difficult moments experienced by charismatic chef Sina Bora, who runs a luxury restaurant in Istanbul, on one of the busiest days of the year. The film reveals how Sina copes with the pressures in both his professional and personal life. This adaptation, prepared faithfully to the original story, offers a narrative enriched with local cultural elements.

Disney+ entered the Turkish market in June 2022 and began offering a wide range of content. The platform plans to implement the ad-supported subscription model in February 2025. With this innovation, it is aimed to present original productions, award-winning TV series and blockbuster films to the audience, while also creating new opportunities for advertisers.
