Filter that will make washing machines more environmentally friendly

In order to prevent the damage caused by waste water to the environment, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering.multilayer filter” was developed. pollution with filter up to 99 percent is being reduced. A patent application will be made for the filter.

There is a sponge on the top layer of the three-layer filter, waste polymer underneath and the polymer part at the last stage. While solid waste is separated in the first two layers, oils and dyes are filtered in the polymer part.

The filter is made entirely from recyclable materials. Polymers are produced from waste polymers. The biochar part in the inner cartridge of the filter is obtained by burning olive branches in an oxygen-free environment.

“Wastewater facilities need to purify them at an advanced level. This is a huge cost and a huge burden. With the multi-layer filters we designed, we planned to simultaneously purify the contaminants, dyestuffs, surfactants and oils in the machine to a large extent. In many contaminants, over 99 percent We have achieved separation. We plan to remove nitrates and phosphates in the biochar section. We have a few preliminary studies. In the experimental phase, we used a certain amount of red polyester in the water and saw that all of it adhered to the filter. Apart from that, we prepared a colorful synthetic washing machine waste. We filtered it in our filters. All of it adhered to the filter. “And we saw that we achieved 99.9 percent purity in our resulting water. We have achieved our goal for now, we think it will be beneficial.”
