Two years ago Mercedes The Vision EQXX concept, introduced by , has managed to attract attention with boastful statements about its range over time. EQXX has achieved the feat of covering more than 1000 kilometers on a single charge not just once, but twice.
In fact, this is the third time now. Mercedesconstantly highlights the range of a vehicle that will not be released or sold, and hopefully heralds electric vehicles with ranges of 1000 km+ that will be reached in the future.
This time, the EQXX covered a distance of exactly 1010 kilometers from Riyadh to Dubai on – you guessed it – a single charge. The car stands out with its official press release stating that it demonstrates “leading energy efficiency of 7.4 kWh/100km (8.4mi/kWh).”

The route profile covers busy city streets and open desert, with temperatures reaching up to 34°C. Still, EQXX managed to “significantly exceed” its previous best performance. Of course, we’re glad to hear that, but we can’t help but wonder what the real purpose here is. Mercedes, says the goal of this third voyage is to “maximize efficiency across all domains and examine system performance under extreme desert conditions.” That’s all well and good, but again, this is a concept car, not an actual production model being tested before launch. Regardless, a more advanced version of the EQXX’s “multi-source heat pump” has been integrated into the Concept CLA Class. Who knows, maybe it will take its place in a real car in a few years.
The EQXX also has a solar panel roof and collected 1.8 kWh of solar energy during its 14 hour 42 minute journey from Riyadh to Dubai, adding 24 km to its range. That probably settles the debate about how beneficial solar panel roofs are, right?
