First in the world: 1 Terabit speed from Türk Telekom

Türk Telekom and Nokia carried out a test that will shape the future of internet and data communication in Turkey. In the trial carried out between Istanbul and Ankara, a speed of 1 Terabit (Tbps) was achieved in a single optical channel by using the new generation DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology developed by Nokia.

While this success makes Turkey the first country to test 1 Tbps optical transmission speed over long distances, it sets a new standard in the sector by increasing the speed of existing optical transmission technology by 2.5 times and increasing energy efficiency.

First in the world: 1 Terabit speed from Türk Telekom

In today’s world where digitalization is advancing rapidly, increasing data traffic and the need for high speed are pushing the limits of communication technologies. Acting with the mission of leading Turkey’s digital transformation, Türk Telekom focuses on developing innovative solutions that can meet this need. The 1 Tbps connection test conducted with Nokia is an important indicator of this vision.

How to query internet infrastructure?

We are here with the internet infrastructure inquiry guide. Here is the fiber infrastructure inquiry and Türk Telekom infrastructure inquiry guide!

High speeds such as 1 Tbps are of great importance, especially today when data-intensive applications are becoming widespread. Sectors such as digital gaming, automotive, energy, agriculture, smart city management, healthcare and manufacturing increasingly need high-speed and reliable data communication. 1 Tbps connection has the potential to increase efficiency by accelerating business processes in these sectors.

For example, in the healthcare industry, applications such as rapid sharing of high-resolution medical images, remote surgeries and patient monitoring may become more effective. In smart city management, cities can be made more livable by analyzing real-time traffic data and developing smart traffic management systems.

Türk Telekom Network Deputy General Manager Zafer Orhan emphasized the importance of this success and stated that they played a leading role in Turkey’s digital transformation and continued to develop innovative technologies that can meet the increasing data speed needs of the country in the digitalization process.

He stated that Türk Telekom strengthened its network with the most advanced fiber optic technologies to meet the needs of its individual and corporate customers and prepared them for the future in their digital transformation journey.

Nokia Turkey General Manager Erensoy Bilgin stated that Nokia’s sixth generation super-coherent Photonic Service Engine (PSE-6s) technology maximizes energy efficiency while transmitting data on huge scales.

Bilgin stated that they offer a solution that can transfer data quickly and using minimum energy with PSE-6s, and that they are very pleased to raise the bar by pushing the limits of optical technology together with Türk Telekom.

A connection speed of 1 Tbps does not only mean a speed increase in internet and data communication; It also offers new opportunities in many areas such as smart cities, autonomous vehicles, intelligent transportation systems, healthcare services and Industry 4.0 applications.

This new generation data transmission technology is of great importance for Turkey’s digital future and will contribute to the country’s stronger position in global digital transformation. This collaboration between Türk Telekom and Nokia is considered an important milestone in Turkey’s digitalization journey.
