According to local journalists, some foreign stores and brands operating on Amazon in Turkey have started to stop their sales operations in our country. It is claimed that these decisions, which are expected to affect consumer habits in Turkey in the near future, were taken due to the new customs legislation announced recently.
So much so that, following the new regulations, the taxation limit for purchases made with 15-day express shipping was reduced from 150 euros to 30 euros. Additionally, standard customs duties were increased. It is said that with the new regulations, the customs duty of a product entering our country may reach 92%, depending on its type and country of origin.
It can be observed that the new legislation, which will come into force as of August 21, has already caused many foreign brands to change their sales strategies in Turkey.
