Last week, simultaneous raids were carried out on Huawei’s French offices. Senior officials of the company announced that they would cooperate unconditionally with the French security forces. It was determined that the reason for the raids was allegations of some financial corruption and nepotism activities within the company. However, there is no crime proven so far.
Huawei France representative said that they have been actively operating in the country for more than 20 years and have made every effort to comply with all existing legal regulations. However, while the company representative refrained from making a comment regarding this investigation, he stated that he was sure that they were innocent.
In 2020, Huawei started the construction of a factory in France that will produce wireless connection equipment and will cost 200 million euros. This factory is expected to produce around 1 billion euros annually. However, many European countries have limited Huawei’s 5G connection networks, especially, for an indefinite period. The reason for this was the company’s close relationship with the Chinese government and the embargo initiated by America for this reason.
Minggang Zhang, deputy general manager of Huawei France, announced that there is no change in their plans and that they aim to open their factories in 2025. Zhang also stated that they invest more than 80 million euros in France every year and added that the technology sector in the country is quite dynamic and innovative.
