Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL were officially revealed at the Made by Google event held today. For the first time, the internet giant offers Pro phones with more than one model option.
Pixel 9 Pro comes with a 6.3 inch screen and Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with a 6.8 inch screen. Both phones have a 120 Hz “Super Actua” screen. The Pixel 9 series has a refined design over the Pixel 8, focusing primarily on the camera, and comes with an updated camera bar and a stylish, durable design. Four color options are offered for phones with smooth edges and matte surfaces. These are called Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazelnut and Rose Quartz.
At the heart of both smartphones is the Tensor G4 processor. With this new processor, which enables Gemini Nano to work locally with multimodality, Pixel 9 Pro can analyze text, images and sounds. While Tensor G4 is accompanied by 16 GB RAM, storage options are listed as 128, 256, 512 GB and 1 TB.
Pixel 9 Pro has a 4700 mAh battery, and Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 5060 mAh battery. It is also among the information provided by Google that, thanks to 45W fast charging support, the batteries of both phones can be charged to 70 percent in just 30 minutes.
Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL offer a number of AI features under the banner of “Google AI”. These include Gemini Live, which lets you have a “free-flowing conversation” with the advanced voice assistant. The feature also includes 10 new sounds to customize the experience when using hands-free commands directly with your device or through Pixel Buds.
P
Pixel Studio, the new image editing application exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, is also waiting for users on phones. Using the Imagen3 text-to-image model, you can create and edit images using commands to add a creative touch to photos and downloads.
In addition to the improved Net Search feature on the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro
The feature, called Pixel Screenshots, uses Gemini and other on-device algorithms to pull context from any of your saved screenshots. For example, “What was Ali’s Wi-Fi password?” The question is answered by Pixel 9 Pro thanks to this feature.
Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL will also offer satellite SOS support in the US. The feature enables communication with emergency services via satellite in areas where cellular service is limited or unavailable by connecting to and activating low-orbit satellites. This feature can be used for the first two years without paying additional fees and without operator restrictions.
There is also a brand new Pixel Weather application in the Pixel 9 series, which offers even more accurate weather forecasts with artificial intelligence support. Operating locally, Gemini Nano will also be able to generate custom AI weather reports at startup or throughout the day.
Pixel 9 series comes with Android 14 installed. Both smartphones will receive operating system updates and new features for 7 years. Android 15 is also expected to be distributed in the coming months.
The updated Camera Bar carries the same camera systems on the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL. Each comes with a 50 MP main sensor, a 48 MP ultra-wide and an improved 48 MP 5x telephoto zoom lens that can go up to 30x. On the front, a 42 megapixel camera welcomes users.
