Along with its new smartphones, Google also introduced its newest smart watch called Pixel Watch 3. Google’s third-generation smartwatch has a host of new features to help users track their progress, plan and take care of themselves.
Before getting into the features in question, it is worth drawing attention to one of the most significant changes made by Google: With Pixel Watch 3, 45 mm is added to the case size options. The first two generations of the Google Pixel Watch only offered a 41mm option. This addition brings the Pixel Watch 3 in line with smartwatches from Apple and Samsung.
Compared to the second generation model, Google also reduced the frame of the smart watch by 16 percent and provided the 41 mm model with 10 percent more active screen area. The screen is also twice as bright and offers up to 2000 nits of brightness. Additionally, the watch works for 24 hours with an always-on display or 36 hours in battery saver mode (which it automatically switches to when the battery drops to 15 percent). Google also claims that the 41mm Pixel Watch 3 charges 20 percent faster than its predecessor.
Pixel Watch 3 carries a new preparation and cardio load tracking guide. This guide tells users how hard the heart is working and whether they need to slow down in training. The smart watch also provides information about recovery time. Personalizing the readiness score feature, Google offers recommendations based on factors such as sleep and resting heart rate. Fitbit Premium subscribers can receive artificial intelligence-supported recommendations.
Also available on the Pixel Watch 3 is a new “pulse detection loss” feature that Google says is the first of its kind. Although worded somewhat oddly, “loss of pulse detection” basically does what it describes. Using the Pixel Watch 3’s heart rate and other sensors, it detects whether the user has a pulse. Because the device samples your pulse once per second, which is one of the most commonly used in the mainstream smartwatch space, it will detect if your heart has stopped fairly quickly. It will then look for other signs, like whether you’re still moving and whether it’s still on your wrist.
With all this data, Pixel Watch 3 will determine whether you are experiencing a “pulse loss event” such as cardiac arrest, respiratory or circulatory failure, overdose, or poisoning. It will contact you when it detects a loss of pulse and call emergency services if you are unresponsive. At launch, Google announced that it would be available in several countries in Europe and that it was “working with regulators to make the feature available in more countries.”
How much should you pay for Google Pixel Watch 3?
The Pixel Watch 3 also has some home-based features that provide Nest Cam and Doorbell notifications, access to live view, and two-way talk. The watch can also be used as a remote control, allowing you to pause, change the volume or switch to a new channel on Google TV. If you have a Pixel phone, your watch can control its camera, record a note, and access Google Maps.
The 41mm Google Pixel Watch 3 will be sold in the US starting from $349. The starting price of the 45 mm version in the USA is $ 399.
