Google, in its statement Android He stated that they discovered a very critical security vulnerability in the operating system and that they immediately started working on this vulnerability. Thanks to this vulnerability, named CVE-2024-36971, cyber attackers can access your device remotely.
Google is working on the bug affecting Android devices
In its August 2024 Android security bulletin, Google announced that they had “discovered indications that the CVE-2024-36971 vulnerability is being used in limited and targeted attacks.” However, as we are used to, Google refrained from giving details about the attacks or saying which hacker group or individuals carried out the attack.
Discovered by Clement Lecigne from Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG), this vulnerability shows that it came from malicious groups producing commercial spyware.
The August patch published by Google closes this vulnerability as well as a total of 47 more vulnerabilities. These patches, which disclosed the vulnerability from hardware manufacturers such as Arm, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek and Qualcomm, also fixed a significant DoS vulnerability.
In June 2024, the company announced that a privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2024-32896) discovered in Pixel Firmware was used in limited attacks. Google stated that this problem is not limited to Pixel devices only, but also affects the general Android platform, and announced that they are trying to find a solution together with other manufacturers. The company fixed this security vulnerability in a short time.
In this sense, if you do not want to be harmed by this security vulnerability, it is beneficial to constantly update the security updates of your device.
