A new step has been taken that increases the unmanned system capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) named Baha (UAV), a vertical departure and descent talented Baha developed by HAVELSAN, completed the control and acceptance process of the systems supplied by the Land Forces Command. The Ministry of National Defense announced on April 25, 2025 that Baha was officially included in the inventory.
Baha, which was first included in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory in 2024, stands out as the second system developed within the scope of the “Digital Units” concept of HAVELSAN in 2021. After the unmanned land vehicle Barkan, the first element of this concept, a new stage was started in the digitalization process of the Turkish Land Forces.
Baha had the opportunity to use not only in Turkey but also in the international arena. In 2023 and 2024, the system, which was exported to various countries in Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East, was actively used in these regions.
Baha was also used in a debris discovery and surveillance tasks in an earthquake and disaster drill organized under AFAD coordination. Thus, it was tested in the field where the system could serve not only in the military but also in civilian crisis management scenarios.
Baha was especially developed in accordance with short -term discovery, surveillance and intelligence activities. The total departure weight of the system, which has a four -meter wing opening, is 28 kilograms. It can carry a useful load of two kilograms.
Baha, which works with an electric motor, has a cruising speed of 80 kilometers per hour and up to 2 hours in the air. The system, which has a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet, can operate up to 8,000 feet height. Thanks to the data bond with a range of 50 kilometers, discovery can be made in a wide area with a remote command.
The system can work between -10 and +50 degrees Celsius. 25 knots, which are resistant to wind speed, can work in challenging climate and terrain conditions. Baha’s ability to deploy without the need for any runway thanks to its vertical departure and landing ability allows it to be rapidly integrated with land troops in mobile tasks.
Baha, which stands out with its technical infrastructure, can perform functions such as day-night discovery and surveillance, operation under electronic mixing, target coordinate detection. In addition, even if the connection is interrupted during the task, the system can be autonomously returning to the base and landing. The task sensors can be changed according to need and they have the ability to jointly work with other unmanned systems.
Baha’s operation, maintenance and shipment can be carried out by only two personnel. This stands out as one of the practical use advantages of the system. Produced with the engineering infrastructure developed by HAVELSAN, Baha landed on the field to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces in the modern warfish.
