How long will it take for Vision Pro to reach its ideal form?

Apple has revolutionized technology once again with Vision Pro. However, according to Apple employees, the device has not yet reached its full potential. So how long will it take him to reach his perfect form?

Apple Vision Pro will reach its ideal form in four generations

According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, those working in the development phase of the Vision Pro believe it could take up to “four generations” for the device to reach its ideal form.

This prediction may hold true when comparisons are made to the evolution of previous groundbreaking Apple products such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, which have undergone iterative development over several generations to improve design, functionality, and user experience. But it remains unclear whether Apple will adopt a similar annual new product cycle for the Vision Pro headset. Otherwise, it could take five or six years for the device to reach its full potential.

Key areas planned for improvement in future models of the Vision Pro include the physical form factor, aiming for a smaller, lighter and more comfortable design. Additionally, improvements are expected to be made to the viewing experience and the EyeSight feature, which digitally displays the user’s eyes to others. A smaller but more powerful battery is also expected to be integrated into future models.

Software upgrades are another focus, with major improvements planned for features like eye tracking and typing to provide a more seamless user experience. Gurman says the current software feels like a beta version and suggests it will need about a year to be refined enough for daily use.

Despite these improvements, the Vision Pro’s $3,499 price tag remains one of the biggest obstacles to widespread adoption. A reduction in price will make the product more accessible to a wider range of customers, potentially creating higher demand.

For now, the Vision Pro is essentially considered a prototype. While some analysts have speculated about its potential to replace Mac computers or iPhones, Gurman suggests it’s more likely to compete with iPads, especially for basic tasks. However, the possibility of replacing iPads seems remote at this stage.
