Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT Beta version released

Huawei, HarmonyOS NEXT’in Beta version at HDC 2024 announced. This new operating system, developed by the company itself, is not based on Android or Linux. HarmonyOS NEXT is designed as a microkernel distributed operating system based on OpenHarmony. This new version only supports native APP applications via Ark Compiler and works with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Core. So, it doesn’t have native compatibility with Android APK apps and files.

HarmonyOS NEXTIn terms of user interface, it feels like a familiar mobile operating system. However, this only applies to the smartphone version. HarmonyOS
NEXT, It is designed to work on other devices as well. Huawei claims that the new architecture increases overall performance efficiency by 30%. It also states that the connection speed between devices has tripled and overall power consumption has decreased by 20%. Although it is not fully explained how these rates are determined, significant improvements are promised.

HarmonyOS NEXToffers a seamless architecture that combines local and cloud infrastructures. Users will be able to seamlessly share and connect their content or applications across devices. Artificial intelligence is deeply embedded in this new operating system. There are native features such as image rendering, AI voice restoration, and reading assistance for people with speech or vision problems.
