Huawei is preparing to launch Ascend 910C chips against NVIDIA’s H100 chips.
One of the companies that gained the most from intensive work in the artificial intelligence market was NVIDIA. Chinese tech giant Huaweiis preparing to launch a graphics chip in October that they expect to be able to compete with the H100 despite US sanctions.
This chip, called Ascend 910C, will be the successor to Huawei’s Ascend 910B. This chip is currently by internet and telecommunication companies in China being tested. The previous model currently in use, the Ascend 910B, offers similar performance with NVIDIA’s A100 graphics processor.
Interest from Chinese manufacturers is high
Huawei faced sanctions and embargo due to the US-China Trade War during Donald Trump’s US Presidency. For this reason, the development process of the company’s new graphics processor was interrupted. Huawei could not access advanced production processes and could not import chip production tools and high-bandwidth memory chips provided by companies such as ASML.
