Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) imposed a total administrative fine of 40 million 38 thousand 526 liras on telecom operators and internet service providers operating in Turkey, with the board decision published two days ago.
Among the companies fined are D-Smart, Digiturk, İşnet, Millenicom, Türk Telekom, TT Mobil, TTNET, SuperOnline, Turkcell, TurkNet, TürkSAT, Vodafone and VodafoneNet.
BTK Penalizes Telecom and Internet Companies!
İşnet, Millenicom, SuperOnline, Türk Telekom, TT Mobil, TTNET, Turkcell, Vodafone and VodafoneNet were fined a total of 31 million 442 thousand 739 liras due to violations in the subscription termination processes. These penalties were given in line with the decisions taken by BTK within the scope of its inspection activities.
In addition, Andromeda TV (D-Smart), Digital Platform (Digiturk), Millenicom, SuperOnline, TurkNet, TürkSAT, Türk Telekom and VodafoneNet were fined a total of 5 million 782 thousand 708 liras due to the subscription transfer processes exceeding 10 days.
While a total fine of 1 million 68 thousand 822 liras was imposed on VodafoneNet, SuperOnline and Türk Telekom due to incorrect document and information notifications, 848 thousand 360 liras were imposed on TTNET due to the provision of periodic internet service and billing outside the period, and debts and receivables were imposed on TT Mobil. A fine of 895 thousand 896 liras was imposed due to violations regarding the interrogation and extradition process.
Along with these fines, the highest fine among telecom companies was given to VodafoneNet as 2 million 744 thousand 353 lira, with a total of 10 violations. Digiturk was sentenced to the highest penalty rate, with a penalty of four per thousand of its turnover.

Türk Telekom AŞ, TT Mobil and TTNET companies belonging to Türk Telekom Group were fined a total of 14 million 795 thousand 372 liras. The lowest fine was imposed on İşnet as a total of 36 thousand 166 liras for three separate violations. With these decisions, BTK also ensured that the loss of rights of subscribers was eliminated.
