Turkey’s digital transformation leader Türk Telekom continues to equip the country with end-to-end fiber networks with fiber infrastructure investments. On New Year’s Eve, which connects 2024 to 2025, the company increased its fiber network length to 474 thousand kilometers with its field operations in Mardin, and increased the internet access speed in the region to 487 Mbps, above the average of Turkey. Mardin, where the fiberization rate approached one hundred percent, became an important milestone within the scope of Türk Telekom’s “Fiber Mobility” era.
Fiber infrastructure reached 487 Mbps
Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal welcomed the new year with his field employees in Mardin and examined the fiber infrastructure transformation works on site. Stating that they offer 1 Gbps internet access to more than 9 million households across Turkey, Önal stated that they are proud to increase the access speed capacity of users in Mardin above the country average. Mardin, where 56 percent of LTE mobile base stations are connected via fiber, has surpassed Türkiye’s average with this rate.
Putting fiber infrastructure at the center of digitalization, Türk Telekom aims to increase the global competitiveness of businesses by equipping Mardin Organized Industrial Zone with an infrastructure with 1 Gbps receivable speed capacity. Drawing attention to the cultural and historical heritage of Mardin, Önal stated that they said “hello” to the new year with their field teams in the Ancient City of Dara and that they are close to completing the fiberization works in this special region.
Türk Telekom, which has laid a strong foundation for the innovations brought by 5G technology with its “Fiber Mobility” strategy, aims to shape Turkey’s digital future thanks to this infrastructure. The company, which pioneers the digital transformation of the region with fiber networks starting from Mardin and spreading internationally, continues its work with the goal of a more connected, smarter and safer world.
Stating that they will continue to increase their investments for 2025, Önal emphasized that Türk Telekom will maintain its leadership mission in innovative technologies. The company continues its work without interruption with the aim of providing accessible high-speed internet in every corner of Turkey.
