Intel ushered in a new era in its processors by switching to the Core Ultra naming last year. Within the scope of COMPUTEX 2024 event Lunar Lake series mobile processors was showcased. What do artificial intelligence-focused Intel models promise?
Intel exhibited its new generation processors called Lunar Lake at COMPUTEX 2024. The new platforms aim to power thin and light laptops starting next year. It promises significant improvements on the CPU side compared to Intel’s Meteor Lake chips.
Lunar Lake will be the first processor family developed by Microsoft to meet Copilot+ PC requirements. This platform, which includes artificial intelligence-supported computers, brings important innovations in the cores. Intel, Lion Cove performance And Skymont efficiency It adopts a hybrid design in its cores.
The company claimed that the efficiency cores alone can deliver the same performance as Meteor Lake chips. In fact, it will be able to achieve this performance by using only one-third of its power. Performance cores will offer up to 50 percent higher single-threaded performance at the same power usage.
Other notable improvements include a 4x faster NPU unit with 48 trillion processing power per second. This unit, used especially for artificial intelligence operations, will be part of the hybrid design in the form of CPU + GPU + NPU.
Intel estimates that Lunar Lake will deliver a total of 120 trillion compute per second between the CPU, GPU, and NPU. Comes with chip Xe2 based Intel Arc GPU It promises 50 percent better graphics performance than Meteor Lake.
Intel plans to launch its newest mobile processor family by next year. We expect major computer manufacturers to offer the Copilot+ PC experience with Intel.
