Dalaman was completely owned by him in 1874. He now owned it completely. First, he built a pier and a warehouse, and then he had a road built from this point to Dalaman. At that time, this green plain, where game animals roamed freely, was for him the reflection of heaven on earth.
Pasha decided to establish a farm here and brought workers from Egypt and Sudan to organize his work.
However, at this point, a coincidence and misunderstanding shaped history. While Pasha was planning to build a hunting lodge in Dalaman The projects prepared by the French were mixed. Because in the same period, he was going to have a train station built in Egypt.
The French, who are in charge of the project, ship the station materials and the project ship to Dalaman.He sent the materials and projects of the hunting lodge to Egypt. Workers in Dalaman quickly transported the materials and started construction. What emerged was a structure that would surprise the Pasha: a station building with high doors and made of specially carved stones.
This two-storey building was designed to be cool in summer and warm in winter, reflecting the elegance of Ottoman architecture.
There were seven rooms on each floor of the two-storey building. Indeed, a station-like mansion emerged. A wonderful hunting lodge had already been built in Egypt.
Although Pasha was truly shocked when he saw these buildings, he he couldn’t bring himself to destroy it and he built a mosque next to the station. When Abbas Hilmi Pasha, whose Khedive was terminated after World War I, could not pay the loan of this station until 1928, the state confiscated this building.
Over time, the station building served as a Gendarmerie Station, and then it was allocated to the State Production Farm.
