We announced to you that Apple Intelligence technology, which offers many new artificial intelligence-based features for Mac, iPad and iPhone, will be offered with iOS 18.1, not with iOS 18, which is currently being tested. It was as we expected, and with the release of iOS 18.1 Beta, this feature was opened to development.
Of course, in this case, as we said before, the iPhone 16 models do not seem to have Apple Intelligence support when they come out of the box. Since the iPhone 16s will come with the final version of iOS 18, it seems that those who buy the phone will need to install the iOS 18.1 update.
iOS 18.1 Beta Released Before iOS 18 Released!
iOS 18.1, which we expect to be released in October, does not host all Apple Intelligence features. Announced at WWDC 24 in June, all of these new Apple Intelligence features will be available by mid-2025.
Of course, installing iOS 18.1 Beta alone is not enough to benefit from this feature. Since it will be available only in the USA at first, your phone’s region setting must be US and English. These are not enough, they only support iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max.
How is Apple Intelligence Activated?
After installing iOS 18.1 Beta, you need to join the waiting list by following Settings-> Apple Intelligence & Siri. Currently, approval is given within a few minutes. When Apple Intelligence is activated, artificial intelligence models are downloaded to your phone before starting to use.
These models currently take up approximately 3 GB of space, but as we mentioned above, many features are still missing. With this update, Apple also released iPadOS 18.1 Beta and macOS Sequoia 15.1 Beta.
So, if you are very curious about this feature but do not have an iPhone 15 Pro to test it: You can also use it on iPad and Mac models with M1 or newer processors.
