Calculator The biggest change to the app is basically with Calculator. Notes One of the applications integration which is math notes feature was added. Math notes in the Notes app write equations and allows them to be resolved automatically when you insert an equal sign.
So you can do things like calculate how much everyone owes for a group trip or split the bill for a dinner. You can also make more complex equations, define variables, and then use those definitions in your calculations.
In Math Notes, wherever you put the equal sign, your equations are automatically solved. Math notes are technically a Notes app feature, but you can start a Math note in the Calculator app and use it right there without having to switch to Notes.
Math notes on iPad
With iPadOS 18, Math notes work the same way but with additional Apple Pencil you can use When you start a Math notes note from the calculator app or Notes app, you can hand-write your equations and have them solve exactly the same way.
Math notes everywhere
In fact, you can get Maths grades results almost anywhere in the operating system. For example, if you type an equation into search you will get a result, and the same goes for apps like Messages.
Unit conversion
You can do unit conversions when using math notes. Just type what you want to convert and you will get the result automatically. For example, if you convert 10 kilograms to pounds in the Math notes interface in the Calculator application, the result is automatically generated. Unit conversions work in search, Messages, Notes, the Calculator app and more.
Calculation history
If you open the calculator app and tap the three lines at the top left of the interface, you can see a history of all the calculations you’ve entered in the app. Apple only saves calculations made with Basic or Scientific calculators here, and Math notes are saved in the Notes app.
By long-pressing on any calculation you can copy the expression or result, and if you swipe you can delete them from the list. You can also tap the Edit button to select a few emoticons to delete, or use the Delete All option from this menu to clear the app.

There’s now also an option to use the scientific calculator in portrait orientation, meaning you no longer need to turn your iPhone to landscape orientation to reach it.
