Apple unveiled the new version of its operating system, iPadOS 18, at WWDC 2024. With this update, iPad models will benefit more from their larger screens. In this context, it will make the tablet experience more versatile. However, interestingly, Apple will offer a calculator application for iPad for the first time in 14 years.
Advanced calculator application introduced with iPadOS 18
iPadOS 18 has many innovations. The most striking one was the new Calculator application designed specifically for iPad. Although there is a calculator natively on technological devices today, iPad users did not have this application.
Of course, it is necessary to remind that there are many applications on the App Store. However, the new Calculator app in iPadOS 18 will offer both basic and scientific views. On the other hand, users will be able to write math equations on the calculator and solve math questions with the handwriting recognition feature.
iPadOS 18 also improves the tablet’s handwriting capabilities. Thanks to the new “Smart Script” function, it will allow users to add spaces and underline lines with their own handwriting styles. Handwritten notes will become as editable as typed.
At the same time, texts written in iPadOS 18 can be divided into sections to be more effective and will support different formatting options.
Generation iPad, 2nd generation 12.9 inch iPad Pro, and 1st generation 10.5 iPad Pro will not receive the iPadOS 18 update. The new version will be downloadable for iPad 2019 and later, iPad mini 2019 and later, iPad Air 2019 and later, and iPad Pro 2018 and later.
