Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that Istanbul Airport maintains its status as the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1485 flights per day. According to the European Aviation Overview Report published by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Istanbul Airport managed to surpass Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Airports with this performance.
Istanbul Airport is at the top of Europe
Evaluating EUROCONTROL’s report between 15-21 July, Uraloğlu stated that Turkey ranked 6th among the countries with the highest traffic volume in Europe with an average of 3 thousand 959 flights per day from its airports. Istanbul Airport maintains its title as the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1485 flights per day. Among the 25 global airports, it ranked 7th in the world with an average daily flight departure of 745 on the same dates.
Istanbul AirportThis success enabled it to stand out as the airport that represents Europe at the highest level in the world rankings. Antalya Airport ranks 8th among the busiest airports in Europe with an average of 1036 flights per day.
Turkish airspace is also one of the most efficient in Europe
Uraloğlu stated that Antalya Airport is located in front of Palma de Mallorca and Rome Fiumicino airports, and that there is an average delay of 7.5 minutes per flight in EUROCONTROL airspace.
Budapest was the airspace with the highest delay, with an average delay of 9.4 minutes due to restrictions caused by Ukrainian airspace. However, Turkish airspace stands out as one of the most efficient airspaces in Europe, with a delay time of less than 0.5 minutes per flight.
