Kia unveiled its new small electric SUV called EV3. Artificial intelligence, the most popular element of the technology world, is also among the focus points of EV3.
EV3 was first introduced as a futuristic concept vehicle last year. The car will go on sale in South Korea next July and then in Europe in the second half of the year.
EV3 will be the first electric car to be offered to end users with Kia’s voice-activated artificial intelligence assistant. Pablo Martinez Masip, Kia’s head of customer experience design, said the assistant is built on top of ChatGPT and has been heavily modified to allow users to plan trips, find entertainment and more. The feature will be available first in South Korea and later in Europe .
It will be possible to travel 600 kilometers with the EV3’s 81.4 kWh capacity battery. There is no information yet about the range of the standard model with a 58.3 kWh battery.
Kia will also produce a sportier-looking “GT-line” model. The EV3 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, and its powertrain is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform.
As for other technology on board, it comes with a similar screen layout found in other Kia EVs: Two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system; a five-inch panel for HVAC; and a 12-inch head-up display. There are also premium streaming apps built through LG’s webOS-based automated platform. Users can also download themes for the dashboard.
Kia EV3 reminds me of EV9 with its design
From the outside, the EV3’s design is heavily inspired by the large, boxy and Spirit-filled Kia EV9, and is designed to feel roomy for five passengers. Kia made this so you can fit personal items like a backpack into the floor, and it includes a sliding table that can fit a laptop.
